Day 3 @ Dakeng Farm / ALiShan

In the morning, we learned how people in the past grind soya beans to make soya bean milk. All of us had opportunity to turn the grinder. It was difficult for little ones like us. We realized how fortunate we are now with technology. The blender replaces the stone grinder.

Later, we proceeded to do 竹编 which involves folding bamboo strips into animal figurines.

We had BBQ for lunch and we roasted corn, Chinese sausages, pork steaks and chicken. The vegetable dish was not popular among us. It was 山菜 and it was served as a cold dish. We also had a taste of the soya bean drink that we ground in the morning. It was sweet and thick.
We got to enjoy authentic Taiwanese Bubble Milk Tea too.

After lunch, we were given some time to pack our luggage for check-out in the afternoon. However, many of us had done it the previous night and so spent the time playing with the pigeons. We never had such fun time with animals. They would land on our hands to feed on the seeds.

It was time to check out of Dakeng Recreational Farm. We took photographs with Xiao Qiao, Eve Jie Jie and her family before bidding farewell. We definitely enjoyed our stay there and left the place with great fondness.

We headed to Chiayi county where ALiShan Mountain is. Before ascending ALiShan, we went to a park to learn more about ALiShan. We took photographs to remember the place.

It was winding journey up the hill. Fortunately, all of us were well prepared and none had motion sickness. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the principal of Siding Elementary School, Mr Chen and a few teachers. We had dinner with our hosts and our teachers are proud that we were well behaved during dinner time.

After our dinner, we went night trekking at the nature reserve near the hotel. The night walk was thrilling as we had to use our torches to watch our steps. We managed to see fireflies.

Our teachers have made an arrangement for us to watch the sun rise tomorrow. We are excited to wake up at 5am to catch the beautiful sunrise.
